How To Prepare Your Home “For Sale” (Part 2)


General Interior Items
  1. Clean entry area and make it welcoming with a new door mat. repair or replace as necessary.
  2. Clean out of season items from entry closets and add extra hangers.
  3. Eliminate house hold odors such as pet, smoking and cooking.
  4. Clean windows to take advantage of sunlight when your home is shown.
  5. Repair or replace window screens.
  6. Open the windows to allow fresh air in if weather permits.
  7. Clean the carpets or if necessary replace with neutral colors.
  8. Clean the wood floors and refinished if necessary.
  9. Clean the tile and other types of flooring and repair as necessary.
  10. Clean and polish the wood work.
  11. Reduce the amount of clothing in closets, add extra hangers and leave few items on the floor.
  12. Consider moving excess and or out of season items into storage.
  13. Consider placing over-sized and excess furniture into storage.
  14. Replace all burnt out light bulbs and consider increasing the light bulb wattage to maximum recommended in the basement and garage.
